Young People aged 8 - 19 years
Greenwich Dance delivers an ever-growing dance activity programme for children and young people called NRgDance. The programme takes its inspiration from hip hop, street and contemporary dance and is fully inclusive, low cost and available at various locations around the borough.
The programme offers high-energy weekly dance classes in three locations, Woolwich, West Greenwich and Eltham and is designed to attract both male and female participants aged 8 – 19 - offering them a range of skills to include team building, commitment, confidence and increased physical health and mental well-being.
Greenwich Dance offer young particpants the opportunity to be accredited for their learning through Arts Award, (a qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework, Trinity College London). To achieve Arts Award children and young people select a skill they want to develop and improve, research role models, see professional work and share ideas with their colleagues.
Throughout the year young participants are encouraged to take part in a variety of workshops delivered by guest choreographers and artists in varying styles to enrich their learning and there are often opportunities to perform and share within our Events and Festivals Programme.
Of course, we also want to ensure anyone displaying a passion and interest in dance is able to take it to the next level and so we encourage young dancers aged 13 plus to audition for our flagship youth dance company. We also support young people to seek out further opportunities to attend open days and auditions at variety of Higher Education Institutions should this fit with their own life aspirations.
