Workshop with Akeim Toussaint (13+)

This afternoon creative class for young people aged 13-19yrs is led by special guest beatboxing dance artist, Akeim Toussaint. This session will be inspired by contemporary dance, Caribbean dance, yoga and animalistic movement, encouraging you to throw out the rule book and feel liberated, strong and connected. The class will integrate patterns and rhythms, travelling through the space within a playful environment. We will revitalise our senses, build strength, stamina and open our awareness.

Ideal for young people already attending contemporay and hip hop classes, as well as for newcomers to dance.

Akeim Toussaint

Akeim is a multifaceted performing artist, born in Jamaica and raised in England. He seeks to create moving, thought provoking, accessible and free spirited projects with a variety of art forms. Since graduating from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance with a first-class honours Bachelor degree in Performing Arts, Akeim has been involved in cross disciplinary projects working with a wide range of artists from around the world. His focus as a maker and collaborator is to combine expressive skills such as dance, writing poetry, beat-box, singing and acting to create performances telling stories that galvanise diverse audiences.
