Professional Class: Alexander Whitley Dance Company, Dancer - Hannah Ekholm
Alexander Whitley Dance Company present professional class at Greenwich Dance led by dancer Hannah Ekholm. Participants will gain insight into Alexander Whitley’s unique and wide- ranging style of movement which will provide both a challenging and rewarding experience for dancers.
The class will focus on developing strength, coordination, and complex sequencing with an emphasis on the role of qualative dynamics in movement, Alexander Whitley Dance Company was established in 2014 and exists as a platform for enquiry: bringing together artists and academics from a wide range of disciplines to explore, develop and disseminate ideas about movement, Building on a distinguished performing career , AWDC was founded in response to the new spheres of knowledge and creativity being opened up by digital technology and a widening interest in dance from thinkers in other fields including science, design and architecture.
Alexander Whitley is a choreographer working at the cutting edge of British contemporary dance and, as artistic director pf Alexander Whitley Dance Company, has developed a reputation for a bold interdisciplinary approach to dance making. He has created work for several of the UK’s leafing companies including Royal Ballet, Rambert, Balletboyz, Candoco and Birmingham Royal Ballet.
Alexander is a New Wave Associate at Sadler’s Wells, an associate at Rambert, and a former choreographic affiliate at the Royal Ballet. His choreography has won him nominations for the 2012 Arts Foundation fellowship, the 2014 Sky Arts Southbank Awards and the 2105 Critics Cricle Awards.

Originally from Gothenburg, Sweden, Hannah Ekholm began her training at the National Swedish Ballet School and The Royal Swedish Ballet School before moving to England to continued her training at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts where, in her third year, she toured around the UK with Encore graduate company.
In 2014 Hannah became a founding member of the dance company Chrysalis London where she performed in many works by Jodie Blemings. Alongside her work with the company Hannah gained a BA (Hons) in professional Practice. In 2016 Hannah began an apprenticeship with James Wilton Dance, touring around the UK and performing in ‘On the Line’ and ‘LEVIATHAN’.
