Professional Class: Cathy Waller

Class will be taught by Cathy Waller and assisted by company dancer, Yukiko Masui.

Classes will focus on expansive, dynamic movement, that holds particular emphasis on musicality, rhythm and freedom to use the body's full range of motion.
Starting phrases will help build strength and technique that will later guide powerful release based movement through the space, as well as in and out of the floor.

Classes are lively and upbeat, a chance for dancers to enjoy using the space for freedom, expression and to let loose!

Cathy Waller

Cathy Waller has been a dance artist for the past 8 years, during and since graduating from Laban. After choreographing for numerous youth and professional companies, creating works for the BBC, Breakin' Convention and Tate Modern, Cathy Waller Company was founded in 2012.

After being awarded the Blueprint Bursary from East London Dance and Sadler's Wells, the Company toured the U.K with 'Tempo'  to Stratford Circus, Lilian Baylis, WestEndLive, National Theatre and a further 12 venues to critical acclaim.

The Company completed two outdoor tours, most recently the duet ‘Louder than Words’, commissioned by Without Walls and Brighton Festival. Away from the Company, Cathy works as a Movement Director, most recently working on Graeae’s 'The Solid Life of Sugar Water’, which finished its U.K tour with a 3 week run at the National Theatre in 2016 to 5* national reviews.

Cathy teaches classes and workshops around the U.K and internationally for a variety of vocational institutions and dance companies. With both her company work and classes, live music is key, using rhythm as a stimulus for pace and movement.

Cathy became the recipient of the London Dance Award in 2012, following on from the BalleBoyz in 2011.
