Professional Class: Amy Butler

Amy’s classes draw on a variety of techniques, including yoga, kathak and inclusive practice, working with complex coordination and offering the opportunity to make translations when needed and guiding them through this process. The class will encourage participants to work with a variety of textures and dynamics, from the highly athletic to the somatic.

  • You will have access to The Old Library from 10:15.
  • For safety reasons, we cannot admit participants after 10.40am, or when the class reaches maximum capacity.

Amy Butler

Amy studied at London Metropolitan University graduating with a first class honours in Performing Arts. She then went on to complete a Higher Certificate at London Contemporary Dance School in 2006, and is now studying at LCDS on the MA DAP course.
Currently she is senior dancer at Stopgap Dance Company where she has toured internationally with a number of works for over four years and is developing an inclusive yoga practice. She is also performing the role of rehearsal director for Akram Khan Company for the piece ‘Chotto Desh’. Her performance work has included working with Yoshifumi Inao (Batsheva Dance Company), Akram Khan Company (London 2012 Olympics), Hélène Blackburn (Cas Public), Enrique Cabrera (Aracaladanza), State of Emergency and Balbir Singh Dance Company (dance captain and rehearsal director).
Choreographically she is interested in making and collaborating inclusively and has been commissioned to make work by Stopgap Dance Company, Three Scores and Ascendance Rep.
