Professional Class: Akeim Toussaint

Professional Class 10:30-12:00 (£5.50)

Akeim Toussaint's class will be inspired by Contemporary Techniques (Graham, Release, Cunningham), Caribbean Dance, Animal Flow, Yoga and Capoeira. This class will seek liberation and flow of movement, by strengthening your rootedness to the earth. Finding elasticity of your core and challenging yourself through endurance and dynamics. From shifting your weight, to slicing space, changing levels and textures of movement. The class will integrate patterns and rhythms, travelling through the room. Inviting an acute focus, finding accuracy in technique, breath, clarity and freedom. In a playful environment we will revitalise our senses, build strength, stamina and open our awareness.

Class will be accompanied by live music (beat box)!

Suitable for advanced degree students, recent graduates and professionals

Under 16? Akeim will also lead a creative aftrernoon workshop (15:45-17:00) for ages 13-19yrs, available to book separately here. (£4)

Akeim Toussaint

Akeim is a multifaceted performing artist, born in Jamaica and raised in England. He seeks to create moving, thought provoking, accessible and free spirited projects with a variety of art forms. Since graduating from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance with a first-class honours Bachelor degree in Performing Arts, Akeim has been involved in cross disciplinary projects working with a wide range of artists from around the world. His focus as a maker and collaborator is to combine expressive skills such as dance, writing poetry, beat-box, singing and acting to create performances telling stories that galvanise diverse audiences.
