Over the next five years Greenwich Dance will take an artistic stand which sees us presenting, supporting and developing work with, by and for communities. By this we mean work that reflects the personalities of the communities we live within and is influenced by the places and spaces that encircle us. It will see us building our reputation for creating work with community casts and focusing our commissioning on making work for non-theatrical spaces and the outdoors.
We see the borough as being a 'cultural playground' and want to work with artists and makers that can animate it with dance and colour. We’ll be looking to support work that is accessible to audiences in addition to looking for work which can ‘challenge’, as art should.
We have a history of finding ways to make non-theatrical spaces work for exciting dance presentation and so will prioritise work and ideas that are created specifically for spaces such as community centres, clubs, heritage buildings and dance halls in addition to the outdoors.
